Effects of Drinking Cold Water on Digestive System

There are many effects of drinking cold water, and there are more negative ones than positive ones. In short, you should avoid drinking cold water because you will simply not do yourself any good. Read on to learn what exactly is happening when we intake cold water and what are the consequences of doing so.

First of all, let’s get through some facts. Cold liquids will leave our stomach faster than warmer one, allowing for faster but not greater re-hydration. Cold liquids will cool down interior of our body when we are hot, but it will also do us harm.

Some people say that it is no problem to drink cold water because we heat it up in our mouth, while in fact cold liquids and foods cause damage to our gums and create tiny creases that in time has adverse effect on our gums.

Our body needs to stay at its ideal temperature at all times to remain in good health condition and to function properly. The moment we intake cold liquids things change however.

Effects of drinking cold water are great and it will cool down our stomach as well as all surrounding inner organs. This is detrimental for the well-being of our body and should be avoided if possible.

Dr. Vasant Lad, the practitioner of Ayurveda clearly states that drinking cold water after a meal has the most adverse effect on our digestive system and surrounding organs.

Drinking of cold water after a meal will contribute to building of mucus in excess, slow down normal functions of our body and affect our immune system. It is advised to drink warm water or tea together with food if you must and take only small sips at a time.

There are some doctors that will state that drinking cold water might help to digest food, while in fact in only slows it down. Drinking of cold water may even result in cancer. The cold water will solidify all the oils that we consume, slowing down the digestion. It will also disturb the proper concentration of digestive juice giving our body additional work load.

These solid oils will then be broken down and absorbed by the intestine much faster than other food in the stomach. Our intestine will get clogged and cause cancer.
Regarding the effects of drinking cold water on an empty stomach, it is not good to consume anything above or below our body temperature because we cause stress to our body each time we do so. Not only will our body need to heat everything up again, it will also have fluctuations in its normal functions and cause imbalance in our entire organism.

Never drink cold water unless you have no other choice. The same applies to hot liquids. It is okay to drink them warm, but not too hot.

How to get rid of this undesirable condition:
• Visit your doctor as soon as you notice that there is something that should be corrected.
• Take warm and or hot fluids
• Take regular walks
• Start an exercise program
• Eat smaller food portions and eat more often to generate and conserve energy
• Have your blood pressure checked regularly
• Research, investigate, inquire, be curious to know more about yourself and your condition
• Do not be afraid to find out if something is wrong with you
• Have regular checkups with your doctor

*Tiba tiba nak share info ni. Sejak malam semalam sampailah ke petang ni izan asyik minum air ais aje. Hari ni aje (kat ofis) dah 6 gelas kot Izan minum air ais. Pagi masuk ofis buat teh o ais, habis aje air tu, minum plak ais kosong dalam 2 gelas. Lunch time g  Mid Valley beli green lime, buat air limau ais...hehehe bab makan plak tak yah tanya lah yer. Sebabnye Izan ni memang malas nak makan masa hari bekerja. So tadi nye Izan just makan roti tuna. Balik kerja malam baru Izan makan betul betul. =P 
Petang sikit dalam kul 3.30 buat nescafe ais plak. Dah habis tu minum plak ais kosong. 
gheeee...ke bilik air tak yah cakap lah yer, memang kerap dari biasa, samapikan ada yang cakap nak proposed kat bos buat toilet bowl sebelah kerusi Izan...eeeewwww memang tak lah kan. Sungguh 'adabs' tol lah pemikiran diorang ni. Dah banyak minum, ofis plak sejuk sangat sangat, mesti lah nak membuang aje...ai yoooh.
Apa sebenarnya yang tak kena dengan Izan ni pun tak tau lah. Adakah sebab 'Pilates' (hehehe...sejak dah mula rasa lemak membukit dalam badan ni...badan pun dah kerap sakit...so kenalah bersenamkan...senaman ni pun senang bole buat kat mana mana pun asal tempat lapang & selesa...mula praktik sejak minggu lepas), tu yang badan rasa 'heaty' je.
Ok lah mulai esok no more ais. Kalau nak minum pun cuma 1 gelas je lah kan....*

Kesimpulannya: minum air ais keterlaluan / kerap memang tak elok untuk kesihatan kita, kerana bole merosak kan system yang ada dalam badan kita. Kaki Izan dah mula 'cramp' dah ni...aaaduuuiii.
